Se c'è una cosa che non "mi piace" fare è parlare in modo negativo o criticare le cose altrui; ma dopo aver visto mercoledì 13 Marzo, su Rai1, il Yamamay Fashion Show, devo smentirmi... Sono un grande fan di Victoria’S Secret, quindi potete immaginare la mia delusione nel vedere questa sfilata... Perciò ho scelto di fare un "piccolo" paragone di queste due firme dell’ intimo. Prima di cominciare ecco i concorrenti:
It’s hard for me to criticize something but when I saw the Yamamay Fashion Show on Rai1 last Wednesday, my eyes started burning! I have to admit that I’m a huge fan of Victoria’s Secret and I was very disappointed looking at the YFS. So I thought it was a good idea to compare those two brands. But first let me introduce the contestants :

Oggi gestita da Lori Greeley del gruppo Limited Brands, la cui sede è a Columbus ( Stati-Uniti).La maggior parte dei punti vendita VS si trova in America, 2 sono in Europa: 1 all’ aeroporto di Londra Heathrow, e l’ altro a Londra in Bond Street. Tutte le modelle di questa grande firma sono chiamate “Angeli” in seguito ad una pubblicità del 1997. VS organizza una sfilata ogni anno che termina con la presentazione del “ Fantasy Bra “, ovvero il reggiseno più caro della collezione ( credetemi si parla di milioni di dollari ).

Sono consapevole che Yamamay sia ancora giovane a differenza di Victoria’s Secret. Tra le altre cose gli Americani, dobbiamo ammettere, sono di gran lunga più “capaci” a realizzare questatipologia di eventi "in grande". Nonostante tutto trovo interessante e costruttivo fare una piccola comparazione tra queste due firme.
I’m totally aware of the fact that Yamamat is a much younger company than Victoria’s Secret. And we all know that americans are just the Kings of entertainment. But that doesn’t mean I don’t find interesting and instructive to compare these two together
La passerella : Primo errore per Yamamay, usa un Catwalk rosso, mentre Victoria’s Secret per la maggior parte delle sue sfilate usa un Catwalk Bianco. Il perché di questa scelta è molto semplice: ogni parte della sfilata possiede un “paesaggio” ed un tema, quando il pavimento è bianco infatti basta solamente proiettare la luce sopra per dargli una nuova tinta e cambiare completamente l’atmosfera. In più il bianco essendo un colore neutro, poco importa il colore di quello che indossi, un armonia tra i due può essere facilmente creata. Il problema del rosso è che questa scelta restringe enormemente le possibilità della scenografia, attirando l’ attenzione molto più sul pavimento rispetto a quello che indossano le modelle .
The catwalk : First mistake of Yamamay with a red catwalk. Victoria’s Secret seems to awlays go for white one. There is a reason for that obviously : every piece of the runway show as a theme, with a white floor it’s really easy to change atmosphere just by projecting lights of different colors to change completely the appearance of the catwalk. Plus, white is a neutral color so no matter what the models wear it’s always gonna look great with the setting. The problem with red or any color really, a part from black and white, is that it’s very restrictive. The choices of settings you can make are a lot less. That color also tends to bring your attention on it instead of the models and what they’re wearing.
La musica : Secondo errore di Yamamay. La musica in una sfilata è un “ mezzo “ necessario che si sposa con grazia agli effetti luminosi per creare una situazione, raccontare una storia, dare quel qualcosa in più all’ intimo e alle modelle. Yamamay e Victoria’s Secret vogliono creare uno “spettacolo” all’ interno del Fashion Show. Non è il caso per tutte le altre marche, le quali si interessano a semplici sfilate per attirare l’ attenzione esclusivamente sui capi indossati.VS utilizza una musica curata nei minimi dettagli, cantata delle volte in live, in ogni quadro della sfilata. Scegliere una sola musica infatti permette di creare una omogeneità ed un legame tra le modelle che indossano i pezzi della collezione. Yamamay ha scelto diverse musiche mixate le une con le altre, le quali, a mio gusto, erano davvero sgradevoli.
The music : Second mistake for Yamamay. Music is very important in a runway show, it has to match perfectly with the light, the catwalk, the clothes. It should help to create the atmosphere, to tell a story, to give that extra touch of fantasy to the underwears and to bring the models to live. Both, Yamamay and Victoria’s Secret, want to creat a “Show” not just a normal Fashion show, more like a big Las Vegas Show. Now obviously, there are companies that prefer making normal Fashion Show, which is absolutely not a bad thing. VS has a different music for each piece of the Runway Show that helps you enjoying the performance and entering in a sort of dream. A lot of the times the songs are live. Yamamay chose a lot of different musics mixed together, which didn’t work for me. I wasn’t able to focus on anything, cause it kept on changing.
Le Modelle : Per avere un risultato ottimo su questo genere di « sfilate – spettacolo » bisogna assolutamente avere delle modelle piene di carisma. Sfilare è qualcosa di enormemente difficile, infatti non mi permetterei mai di criticare la performance delle modelle Yamamay. Ma… messe a confronto con le modelle di VS, non può passare inosservato che le modelle Yamamay mancano "leggermente" di personalità, di freschezza, di carisma. Le giovani donne che marciano sul Catwalk devono essere più che semplici modelle, devono essere STARS. E con questo non intendo, scegliere delle persone già conosciute, ma avere quel qualcosa in più che spinga la gente a ricordarsi di loro e non semplicemente del vestito che indossano. Alcuni già parlano delle modelle Yamamay come “Angeli Italiani”… su su non bisogna esagerare!
The Models : For those kinds of shows it is absolutely necessary to have models with a lot of charisma. Walking is not an easy thing, so I don’t thing it would be appropriate for me to give an opinion on that. But I have to say that looking at both performances the Yamamay models have a bit less personality than the VS Angels. You have to be more than a model to make these shows work. You have to be a Star! I don’t mean someone that’s already famous, I mean someone that has that little something, someone fascinating. A girl that people are gonna
remember and what she was wearing. Certain people have already start saying
that Yamamay’s models are the “Italian Angels”… I personally think it’s a
little too soon for that!

di « Urban Decay ».
Per quelli e quelle che non conoscono questa marca, si tratta di un’ impresa
americana di trucchi fondqtq nel 1996 da Sandy Lerner, David Soward, Wende
Zomnir e Patricia Holmes. La marca appartiene oramai a L’Oréal ed é gestita da
Tim Warner.
Today's
theme is the new Limited Edition "Urban Decay" 's palettes. For those
of you who don't know this brand, it's an American comestics compagny founded
in 1996 by Sandy Lerner, David Soward, Wende Zomnir and Patricia Holmes. But
it's L'Oréal that owns the company nowadays and runned by Tim Warner.
La marca é
conosciuta per le sue numerose palette di ombretti ma anche per il suo
indispensabile “Eyeshadow Primer Potion” ( da applicare come base sulla
palpebra prima di applicare gli ombretti ). La particolarità degli ombretti d’Urban
Decay é che sono molto pigmentati; una piccola dose basta per ottenire l’effetto desiderato. Hanno quindi
una durata maggiore, che giustifica il loro prezzo ( circa 15 euro). È importante sapere che prima di applicare
sulla palpebra l’ombretto bisogna assolutamente assicurarsi di eliminare l’eccesso
dal pennello per evitare di avere residui sulle guancia...che ammettiamolo non é
per niente di buon gusto.
The brand is known for the palettes of eyeshadows but also for its wonderfull "Eyeshadow Primer Potion" (to apply as a base on the lid before using eyeshadows). Urban Decay's eyeshadows are very pigmented, you don't need to use a lot of it to have a perfect result. They last longer, so it justifies their price (17 dollars).
It is really important to know that before you apply these eyeshadows you should definitely tap off the excess on your brush, cause they do have fallouts...and let's face it, dirty cheeks isn't really attractive.
